Welcome to Swotzy, we're delighted you've found us! Perhaps you're seeking a smarter approach to last-mile delivery, or maybe you're just intrigued by what we do. Either way, we're glad you're here. The platform before you represents years of focused effort. It’s the result of relentless determination and a refusal to accept the status quo. We'd love to share this journey with you, so that you can understand our roots, our ethos, and how we’ve evolved to become who we are today.

Where the Swotzy journey began

Every transformative venture has its genesis moment, that precise instant when observation crystallizes into conviction. For Swotzy, it arrived in Latvia, a small Northern European nation with outsized ambition. Lauris Rutkis, then navigating the operations of Printful (Latvia's sole unicorn), began noticing fractures in the last-mile delivery ecosystem that others seemed resigned to accept.

By looking deeper into the industry, Lauris realised that the inefficiencies weren't confined to large companies; small businesses were hemorrhaging resources on the same broken systems. Lauris identified the pattern: companies across every tier were building redundant in-house solutions, each reinventing the wheel at considerable expense.

The economics were particularly damning. These bespoke systems consumed capital, devoured time, and siphoned talent from core business functions – yet still failed to optimize shipping operations. More revealing was the pricing disparity: large corporations wielded shipping as competitive weaponry, while smaller players absorbed inflated costs. The market is fundamentally inequitable.

Surveying the industry landscape, Lauris discovered several businesses attempting to resolve these inefficiencies. While some prioritised achieving the lowest possible rates, customers still had to navigate the decision-making process regarding carrier selection. Other companies had unreliable systems or limited coverage, each falling short of providing a holistic solution.

This gap in the market was Lauris's eureka moment. He saw an opportunity to create a product that would simplify operations not just for major corporations but also for small business owners looking to scale their operations efficiently. His conviction was elemental: businesses should compete on product excellence, not logistics access. From that principle, Swotzy emerged.

A united front

Lauris understood instinctively: solving a problem of this magnitude required more than ambition; it demanded the right constellation of talent. His first call was to Kristians Jenčiuss, a long-time friend whose tenure across several Latvian startups had honed a rare commercial acumen. The decision to partner up was a no-brainer.

Yet a crucial piece remained missing. Neither possessed the technical architecture to build what they envisioned. That piece arrived in the form of Jēkabs Hincenbergs – a former colleague of Kristians from their Nordigen days, whose friendship had endured beyond professional boundaries. Here was the rarity they needed: an IT professional fluent in both code and commerce. The invitation was extended without hesitation; the acceptance, equally swift. Soon, the trio was convening in stolen hours between their day jobs, architecting a solution to an industry-wide impasse.

Swotzy today

Swotzy’s vision is carried forward by a dedicated team of 14, each committed to dismantling the barriers that have long plagued last-mile delivery. Size shouldn't dictate shipping power, and Swotzy is proving it doesn't have to. The platform continues to evolve, with each iteration bringing businesses closer to logistics equity.

For the founding trio, Swotzy represents something deeper than quarterly metrics or market share. It's about fundamentally reshaping how the shipping industry operates – stripping away inefficiency, slashing unnecessary costs, and opening doors previously reserved for the few. As they look towards the future, there's palpable excitement about the potential that Swotzy holds. Together (and that includes you, dear reader), we're shaping a vision that has the potential to redefine the landscape of business shipping.
